Succulents - Care & Maintenance

Care for these open terrariums is incredibly simple. They are a great way to add colour into your home/office space while requiring minimal care.

Substrate
We recommend a well draining mix, for example a 1/1/1 mix of organic compost, fine horticultural grit and perlite. Echeveria do not like to be sat in water or the roots will rot causing damage to the plant.

Light
Echeveria prefer bright, direct light but able to also tolerate some shade. To encourage the best colour from your echevaria, place it in a bright windowsill, or greenhouse.
They will thrive outdoors during the warmer months. However be aware they are vulnerable to frost damage so must be brought indoors during winter.

Water
This plant is drought-tolerant and prefers to dry out slightly between waterings. Water only when the soil is completely dry, and be sure to use a well-draining potting mix to prevent waterlogging.

Temperature
Echeveria are not frost-hardy and is best kept in temperatures above 50°F (10°C). It prefers temperatures between 60°F to 75°F (15°C to 24°C). Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or sudden temperature changes.

Propagation
Echeveria can be propagated from stem or leaf cuttings. Simply remove a stem or leaf and allow it to callus over for a few days before planting in well-draining soil. The plant will root and begin to grow within a few weeks.
